Safeguarding refers to the process, practice and culture embedded within an organisation to create a safe environment where children, young people and adults at risk are free from all forms of harm, abuse or neglect.
DOES MY ORGANISATION NEED SAFEGUARDING?
Yes. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and should be taken extremely seriously, this includes having a trained safeguarding officer to ensure the safety of children, young people and adults at risk remains at the highest priority.
CONTEXTUAL AND PROACTIVE
Safeguarding is not just a word or a 'tick box' compliance activity.
It is important you understand what it means in context to your organisation. This can be undertaken through in-depth safeguarding audits and internal mapping exercises.
Best practice means proactively monitoring safeguarding trends and themes within your organisation, as opposed to just reacting to an event or safeguarding crisis.

Child Protection is an area that comes under the wider safeguarding 'umbrella'.
