Groundbreaking agreement signed between The Safeguarding Alliance and Newcastle University to deliver transformational ‘Future Female Leaders in Sport’ programme
A groundbreaking agreement between The Safeguarding Alliance and Newcastle University has been signed allowing the transformational ‘Future Female Leaders in Sport’ programme to kickstart.
This programme, based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is the first of its type in the world and will galvanise the specialist expertise of The Safeguarding Alliance to drive forward Newcastle University’s flagship programme which will empower female leadership, coaching and sport development skills to support the rapid change and growth of sport and physical activity in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Safeguarding Alliance will support the programme with specialist safeguarding training and best practice for participants, ensuring that they graduate with expert safeguarding knowledge and practice for the future.
The programme will be kicking off this weekend with delivery taking place in both Jeddah and Dammam with the amazing Nicola Minichiello.
Commenting on the new agreement, CEO of The Safeguarding Alliance, Emily Konstantas, said: “We are honoured to be partnering with Newcastle University to be delivering such a transformational programme and driving forward safeguarding excellence. This will empower female leaders in sport to excel and we are so pleased to be able to support them on this journey.
“I would like to pay tribute to everyone who has made this possible, because it truly will change lives. We passionately believe that safeguarding will only work if we work together and this is a brilliant example of that.”
Commenting on the new agreement, Katy Storie, Director of Sport, Newcastle University said:
“This exciting Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office funded project supports the rapid change taking place in KSA, supporting women to be physically active and use the power of sport to develop leadership and empowerment. We made a commitment to ensuring safeguarding was a core element of delivery within the project and underpins the leaders future impact on their sporting communities. So we are delighted to collaborate with The Safeguarding Alliance as leading experts in this area working within the region.”
